In 2014, Morgan Lewis implemented Emburse Invoice Enterprise to establish an AP Automation capability for the firm’s accounts payable operations. The deployment targeted a 4,000 employee professional services firm headquartered in the United States and positioned Emburse Invoice Enterprise as the centralized invoice intake and processing platform for legal practice groups and shared finance teams.
The implementation of Emburse Invoice Enterprise focused on invoice capture and indexing, optical character recognition and data extraction, configurable approval routing, line level GL coding, and exception management workflows consistent with AP Automation functional expectations. The solution was configured to support supplier invoice lifecycle management, automated validation rules, and role based approval chains for attorneys, administrative staff, and finance approvers.
Architecturally the deployment was delivered as a hosted application to centralize invoice processing and provide an auditable invoice lifecycle, with secure access controls and activity logging to meet professional services compliance needs. Operational scope included centralized accounts payable processing across practice groups and US office locations, with the platform handling invoice queuing, batching and automated routing to designated approvers within practice and finance functions.
Governance for Emburse Invoice Enterprise was structured around formal approval thresholds, segmented user roles, and process documentation to align billing and AP workflows for legal matter accounting. Rollout was organized by practice group and finance function, with configuration of approval policies, exception escalation paths, and user training plans to embed the new AP Automation processes into existing operational controls.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, Morgan Lewis implemented Workday Absence Management to centralize absence and leave administration across its HR platform. The implementation targeted the firm's Absence and Leave Management needs within a Workday HRIS footprint supporting roughly 4,000 employees, with a specific operational focus supporting EMEA employee record changes and global HR reporting workflows.
Configuration work centered on absence and leave entitlements, time-off balance calculations, and approval routing consistent with Absence and Leave Management best practices, while leveraging the Workday Time and Absence functional pairing for coordinated time capture and leave adjudication. The team developed custom reporting and analytics for Head Count Reports, Diversity Metrics, Cost Centers, Practice Groups, Personal Employee Data Elements, and Compensation, and the Workday Absence Management configuration was instrumented to feed those HR reports.
Integrations and operational coverage included validation of employee data across various HR database systems and direct operational collaboration with HR business partners, HR managers, and other managers for HRIS requirements and case handling. Operational ownership included processing a high share of EMEA employee record changes, and day to day support for absence and time queries was routed through HR Service Delivery and HRBP channels.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the rollout, with testing, training, and technical support for Workday Time and Absence led by HR Service Delivery specialists. Process documentation increased by 25 percent, audits on hiring and data changes were performed, and the HR Service Delivery function took accountability for a significant portion of Diversity and Inclusion reporting and request throughput, reflecting a tightened control model and centralized reporting governance.
