In 2021 Muganbank Azerbaijan implemented GNI Core Banking as a Core Banking initiative focused on compliance and anti-financial-crime capabilities in Azerbaijan. The program was delivered by GNI Software and completed in 2021, positioning the GNI Core Banking application as the compliance platform for automated AML and Anti-Fraud controls within the bank.
The implementation included automated AML and Anti-Fraud systems, with configuration aligned to transaction monitoring, real-time screening, rules-based detection, alert generation and case management workflows. GNI Core Banking was configured to ingest transaction streams and apply detection rules and workflows typical for an AML and fraud control environment, enabling operationalized alerts and investigator case handling within the banking operations.
Architecturally the project used an integration bus to link the AML and Anti-Fraud solution with the bank's ABS, the internet and mobile banking channels, and external financial monitoring systems. The deployment explicitly included integration with the Financial Monitoring Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ensuring connectivity between the GNI Core Banking compliance modules and the country s mandated financial intelligence system.
Operational scope covered compliance, fraud investigation, payments operations and digital channel monitoring, with governance changes to routing alerts to compliance units and to escalate cases into formal investigation workflows. The rollout in Azerbaijan in 2021 centralized AML and anti-fraud detection within the GNI Core Banking environment and established cross-system messaging and case handoff patterns between ABS, digital channels and the national Financial Monitoring Service.
