In 2013, Murco Petroleum implemented IBM Power Systems within an Application Hosting and Computing Services engagement for its United Kingdom operations. The work focused on consolidating compute for the companys SAP landscape and related hosting responsibilities on IBM Power Systems hardware. Between November 2013 and February 2014 Absoft executed a server migration that moved SAP ERP 6.0 ERP4 from IBM iSeries V6R1 to V7R1, performed a QA system refresh, and completed a new Solution Manager 7.1 installation and initial configuration. The Solution Manager 7.1 work included initial landscape registration, baseline monitoring setup, and transport landscape configuration to align with the SAP ERP 6.0 ERP4 instance. The implementation relocated SAP application servers and associated runtime onto IBM Power Systems running IBM iSeries V7R1 while maintaining interoperability with existing infrastructure components, including previously present Oracle SPARC systems. Solution Manager 7.1 was configured to serve as the central operational control point for system monitoring, incident handling, and change orchestration across the SAP landscape hosted on IBM Power Systems. Operational delivery was phased and managed by Absoft from November 2013 through February 2014, covering production and QA tiers, server level migration, and initial Solution Manager governance configuration. Governance emphasis centered on establishing Solution Manager driven workflows for transport management, system monitoring, and standardized SAP operational procedures across functional teams.
