| The Access Group | Legacy | Access PeopleXD (formerly CoreHR) | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, University of Galway deployed Access PeopleXD (formerly CoreHR) as its Core HR solution. Access PeopleXD serves as the University’s IT solution for human resources, payroll, business intelligence and employee self service, implemented as CORE Enterprise HR and organized into 12 service elements split between CorePortal and Core Back Office. The implementation supports University of Galway staff for personnel lifecycle, payroll, time and attendance, pensions, budgeting and reporting functions, and the service catalogue explicitly excludes students and T account holders. This configuration places Access PeopleXD at the center of HR, payroll and administrative operations across the institution.
CorePortal provides five self service modules, including My Time Self Service, My Personnel Self Service, My Payroll Self Service, My e Recruitment Self Service, and My Pension. The Core Back Office comprises seven modules, CorePersonnel, CorePay, CoreTime, CoreBI, CorePension, CoreBudget, and CoreSecurity, with CoreBI surfaced via the Insight front end for report creation and analysis. CorePersonnel manages the employee lifecycle and supervisory reporting, CorePay handles payroll processing, and CoreTime links supervisor time management to My Time self service. The implementation emphasizes module level configuration and menu profile assignment to align functionality with business roles.
Access to CorePortal is authenticated via campus account credentials, and Core Back Office provisioning follows a ticket based workflow submitted to the Service Desk with required approval sign off from the relevant business unit, such as HR, Research Accounts Office, Payroll, Finance or Pensions. CoreSecurity is used by ISS staff to administer user rights, with level 2 and 3 ISS employees performing back office administration. Availability is mixed, CorePortal is accessible on and off campus using any web browser, while Back Office access is restricted to wired campus connections using Edge. e Recruitment and third party access require registration and a personnel record in CorePersonnel and client Java version 8 update 211 as a prerequisite.
Governance is enforced through HR authorization for back office accounts and menu profile confirmations included in access tickets, with technical support routed to the Service Desk per the published service catalogue. There is no charge to employees for use of the Core applications, and CoreSecurity centralizes user rights administration to support segregation of duties across HR, payroll, pensions and finance business functions.
