In 2022 Clarence Valley Council implemented TechnologyOne Enterprise Asset Management to consolidate asset oversight across its 10,000 square kilometre jurisdiction and to manage approximately $2 billion in infrastructure assets, addressing challenges from a dispersed workforce and long field travel times. The deployment targeted Council-wide asset lifecycle control under the Enterprise Asset Management category to replace manual, paper-based processes and improve operational visibility.
The implementation focused on the Asset Operations & Maintenance and Field App components of TechnologyOne Enterprise Asset Management, and leveraged existing TechnologyOne Finance, Property and Rating, and Enterprise Content Management products to create an integrated application landscape. Field App was configured for both online and offline operation to accommodate mobile coverage gaps, enabling electronic timesheets, mobile data capture on synchronized tablets, and end-to-end project management for field crews.
TechnologyOne Enterprise Asset Management centralized reporting and operational workflows to enable real-time defect reporting, triage, and dispatch, establishing a single source of truth for asset records. The consolidated processes reduced manual transcription, improved data transparency and accountability, and streamlined the intake of resident defect reports and the management of repair teams across departments.
The Council introduced governance and process standardization through the An Asset is an Asset, is an Asset initiative to harmonize asset classification and reduce fragmented management techniques across teams, embedding consistent workflows and asset stewardship. The rollout also restructured timesheet capture and payroll inputs by shifting field recording to electronic processes, improving visibility into project execution and staff activity.
Reported outcomes from the implementation include measurable productivity gains, one bridge crew completing a 12 month workload in six months, approximately 500 resident defect reports recorded in the first month after go-live, reduced travel time for crews, and faster in-field decision making due to real-time data on tablets. Clarence Valley Council is moving TechnologyOne Enterprise Asset Management to a SaaS platform to remove on-premise infrastructure maintenance and to better manage cyber security risk while continuing to integrate and build business processes.
