In 2016, Nerium International implemented SAP Concur Expense for Expense Management. The deployment centralized expense lifecycle controls to support Finance, Human Resources, and Legal functions, with a specific emphasis on auditing expense reports in accordance with SOX compliance and the Company Travel & Entertainment Policy.
SAP Concur Expense was configured to provide core expense report auditing, employee profile management within Concur, policy enforcement workflows, and business support processes for adjustments, information requests, and report rejections. The implementation included operational procedures to maintain the employee profile database in Concur and to provide user guidance on the use of Concur and the Company T&E Policy.
Operational coverage extended beyond expense report processing to include A/P related activities coordinated by the finance team, with responsibilities to process company invoice payments for domestic and international invoices, both PO related and non PO related. Invoice workflows were aligned with GL account and Cost Center coding rules, vendor communications for invoice issues, stop payment and reissue handling, and preparation support for weekly check runs.
Governance and workflow restructuring emphasized audit controls and cross functional escalation paths, including processes to research and resolve reimbursement and suspected fraud cases for current and former employees on behalf of Human Resources, Finance, and Legal. The program also formalized change management for Concur through business support ownership of profile updates, system configuration changes, and ongoing input to the company Travel & Entertainment Policy.
Routine operational tasks defined in the deployment included processing stop payments and reissues when necessary, coding and approving A/P invoices, and providing procedural guidance and troubleshooting for employees using SAP Concur Expense. The implementation positioned SAP Concur Expense as the primary Expense Management tool to enforce T&E policy compliance and to centralize audit and support activities across Finance, HR, and Legal.

In 2016 Nerium International implemented Microsoft Power BI for Analytics and BI. The implementation was anchored on an Azure Data Warehouse and Azure Data Lake platform, with SQL Server 2016 used to host the operational data warehouse and reporting extracts.
The program included design and implementation of new Customer, Order, and Inventory segmentations for existing dimensions, and the definition of new metrics to track various aspects of the business. Microsoft Power BI dashboards were designed to use slicers and drilldown capabilities, exposing the newly modeled dimensions and metrics to business users for ad hoc analysis and reporting.
ETL development centered on SSIS, with packages created to handle Type 1 and Type 2 slowly changing dimensions, staging loads, and general ETL processing. Existing SSIS packages were modified to accept new variables for dynamic processing, and the SSIS architecture was rearchitected to process only new orders instead of reprocessing all orders each day, reducing daily batch scope.
Platform-level work included implementation of Azure PolyBase and external SQL tables to support large scale ingestion, and ongoing redesign of OLAP structures including cubes and fact tables to incorporate dimensions that were previously unused. The overall rollout emphasized ETL orchestration, dimensional modeling, and aligning the data model to Microsoft Power BI semantic layers, with SSIS-driven ETL processes feeding various downstream systems.
