In 2016, Nestle Australia upgraded SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA, executing a major ERP initiative focused on ERP Financial coverage across Oceania. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment consolidated three data environments onto the SAP HANA database and targeted manufacturing and distribution operations across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The implementation covered core functional modules including Order To Cash, Planning To Produce, Procure To Cash, Financials and Costing, with end to end process design and configuration to support both manufacturing and distribution workflows. SAP S/4 HANA configuration and testing followed SAP Activate methodology alongside established SAP ASAP practices to structure design sprints, system integration testing and cutover activities.
Integration efforts included long running B2B and B2C EDI programs managed from 2007 to 2018 to automate order and invoice flows with retail and distribution partners. The program also consolidated acquisitions such as Uncle Tobys, Novartis and Galderma into the unified SAP HANA environment, preserving master data alignment and transactional continuity across sites.
Project governance relied on cross functional business analyst leadership, formal SAP ASAP and SAP Activate governance gates and business re engineering workshops to align stakeholders. Deliverables and rollout success were measured by cost, timing and performance effectiveness, and the engagement explicitly contributed to cost savings, innovation and productivity initiatives intended to increase Nestle Oceania business value.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016, Nestle Australia implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as part of the company’s broader SAP SuccessFactors adoption within Nestlé’s global H2R Hire to Retire program. The implementation targets Compensation Management processes and establishes a cloud first, mobile enabled compensation planning layer for the Australia entity within the global program.
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was configured to support core compensation planning workflows, including plan templates, eligibility and rule-based allocations, merit and bonus cycle management, and approval workflows. The deployment was aligned with existing SuccessFactors talent modules in use, notably Performance and Goals and Successions and Development, and was positioned to work alongside subsequent additions of Employee Central, Recruitment Marketing, Recruitment Management, and Onboarding across the broader group.
Operational coverage is framed within Nestlé’s Wave 1 global scope, which impacted approximately 70,000 employees in 35 countries, with the Australia implementation synchronized to that global rollout. The solution sits within HR, Talent and Total Rewards operational domains and is intended to streamline compensation cycles, pay program administration and employee pay communication across regions where Nestlé operates.
Implementation governance was led by Nestlé who chose to lead the program internally while collaborating closely with SAP SuccessFactors teams, including account management, product management, engineering, Regional Implementation Group, consulting and support. The deployment was promoted as driving simplification, standardization and share ability across the employee experience and positioned to empower a modern digital workforce through a flexible compensation management capability.
