In 2018 NewYork-Presbyterian implemented Workday Benefits as part of a broader Workday HCM deployment. Workday Benefits, in the Benefits Administration category, was configured for an enterprise employer of approximately 50,000 employees to centralize benefits enrollment and eligibility workflows across the health system.

In 2019, NewYork-Presbyterian implemented EPIC EHR as its core Electronic Health Record to support inpatient and pharmacy workflows across its New York sites. The EPIC EHR deployment was positioned to centralize clinical documentation and medication management, serving multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and device specialists.
Configuration focused on clinical medication management capabilities, including prescription review workflows, medication reconciliation across admissions and discharges, and electronic order processing that pharmacists use to validate and prepare medications. The implementation incorporated standard clinical order entry patterns consistent with Electronic Health Record platforms, and pharmacy staff received structured training on EPIC EHR use for sterile compounding, automated medication cabinets, and routine dispensing tasks.
Operational integrations explicitly included interfaces with omnicell medication dispensing systems and medication automatic cabinets, enabling the EPIC EHR to feed order and reconciliation data into pharmacy inventory and distribution workflows. The scope of use described includes on-site pharmacy operations in New York, pharmacist and pharmacist intern training programs, and cross-disciplinary coordination for anticoagulation management and drug interaction surveillance.
Governance emphasized protocol standardization and workflow restructuring, with standardized medication reconciliation protocols and staff training to reduce discrepancies and strengthen continuity of care. Reported outcomes tied to the EPIC EHR implementation include enhanced accuracy and efficiency in order processing and improved continuity of care through standardized reconciliation, as reflected in pharmacy and clinical coordination activities.
