| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2017 | 2018 |
In 2017, NFU Mutual implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial application. The programme began with a structured review of existing CRM, ERP and policy administration roadmaps and restructured delivery through a 16 months delivery plan executed with in-house and offshore teams to ensure planned activity was delivered on time and within budget.
The implementation encompassed CRM, core ERP for finance and operational processes, and policy administration via Guidewire, alongside Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Adobe Marketing Channels for customer engagement. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support finance, underwriting and claims related processes, and the project designed a mobile-first, design-thinking led customer conversion funnel and analytics-driven customer journeys to align sales, service and marketing objectives with technical delivery.
Integrations linked Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SAP S/4 HANA ERP, Guidewire Policy System and Adobe Marketing Channels to produce an end-to-end solution deployed to 130 agencies across the United Kingdom. The programme was delivered as a major cloud project for 6500 users and executed under a major agile programme delivery model, led by a program team of 250 plus resources, primarily SI partners TCS, Accenture and Microsoft, together with in-house and offshore teams, and included customer and product data migration and transformation.
Governance and operating model changes established a Channel Operating Model, embedded agile governance, and institutionalized rapid upskilling through recruitment and training of internal teams. The delivery team acted as a business partner to heads of business and C-level stakeholders to translate sales, service and marketing requirements into technical scope, and the programme delivered consolidated CRM, ERP and policy system capabilities, business process and customer experience journeys, and a large change culture across General Insurance, Corporate, Financial Services, Claims, Underwriting, Marketing and Customer Services divisions.

| TIBCO Software | Legacy | TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012 NFU Mutual implemented TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM to automate paper-based claims handling. The deployment leveraged Business Process Management patterns to move manual, paper-driven workflows into orchestrated, rules-driven processes across claims operations. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM was positioned as the central process engine to model and execute claims workflows.
Implementation emphasis was on workflow orchestration, human task management, case management and business rules for routing and exception handling. Configurations included document-centric process flows to capture paper inputs, task assignment queues for claims adjusters and automated escalation paths for exceptions. Process monitoring and audit trails were implemented to provide operational visibility into claims lifecycles.
The operational scope targeted the claims function, covering intake, triage and adjudication steps and supporting back-office processing and claims administration. Rollout followed staged adoption of modeled processes and configuration of business rules to reflect insurer adjudication policies, migrating manual steps into automated workflows. Administrators used the BPM console for ongoing process configuration and monitoring.
Governance established standardized process models, role-based task routing and formal change control for rule updates, with documented workflows and operational ownership assigned within claims. NFU Mutual TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM Business Process Management provided centralized orchestration and a single process definition layer for claims handling.
