| IBM | Legacy | IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation | Process Mining | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 NHS Blood and Transplant implemented IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation as part of a Process Mining initiative to formalise allocation workflows and operational decision logic. The deployment anchored process discovery and modeling capabilities to document and analyse existing workflows, while positioning IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation as the platform for ongoing rule management and process orchestration.
The implementation used IBM Business Process Manager on Cloud, Operational Decision Manager on Cloud and IBM Blueworks Live to create a rules based platform for agile development. These components were configured to capture workflows, simplify process steps and enable teams to develop, implement and change allocation scheme rules on an ongoing basis, combining process mapping with decision automation and change control.
Operational scope focused on allocation scheme management and clinical support processes across the organisation, linking process models and decision rules into operational workflows. The solution oriented the Process Mining work toward repeatable governance, providing a single environment for workflow capture, decision rule authoring and iterative process improvement.
Governance was implemented through a rules based change process and an agile development cadence, enabling NHS Blood and Transplant to update allocation logic without extensive redevelopment. The approach emphasised continuous control over allocation rules and process artefacts, and explicitly supported maximising patient outcomes through more transparent and adaptable process and decision management.
