Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2020
In 2019 Orion Group Holdings began planning and initiating an implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. The deployment focused on ERP Financial capabilities to consolidate Accounting, Finance, Tax and HR Payroll business functions while aligning customer engagement with Dynamics 365 CE CRM functionality. The implementation used Sure-Step methodology and was executed with a Microsoft Gold partner, with the Sr. ERP Project Manager leading PMO activities for Accounting, Finance, Tax and HR Payroll workstreams. Functional configuration and modules implemented emphasized core finance and tax controls, payroll and HR integrations, and CRM alignment, alongside standard Finance and Operations configuration tasks such as data migration mapping, test planning, and cutover sequencing. Operational tooling and integrations were managed through the partner’s DevOps environment to trace requirements gaps, schedules and team assignments, and the project maintained formal artifacts including management level charters, decision forms for third party software, weekly status reports and resource plans. The Sr. ERP Project Manager facilitated cross-workstream coordination, mentoring of junior team members, and produced governance outputs to support enterprise rollout across Orion Group Holdings sites and departments. Rollout governance included detailed strategy plans for data migration, testing and integrations, with an expected go-live ETA early 2022. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations served as the central ERP Financial platform, and project documentation captured integration points, testing scope and change control requirements to support the cutover timeline.

InEight Legacy InEight Document Document Management Content Management n/a 2024 2024
In 2024, Orion Group Holdings implemented InEight Document as its Document Management solution. The company operates marine and concrete projects spanning Aruba to Alaska, and prior to the implementation document creation, routing, and storage were handled through manual scanning, spreadsheets, and email attachments, creating bottlenecks and version control issues that disrupted schedules and muddled communication. Orion centralized document control using InEight Document, configuring workflows to funnel creation, routing, review, and approval through a single platform. The deployment emphasized tagging, metadata classification, and organized document libraries within InEight Document to preserve version history and support audit processes. InEight Document was integrated with Outlook, SharePoint, and other existing tools to enable seamless submission, external collaboration, and real-time status updates back into project workflows. Operational coverage extended to project controls, document control teams, engineering, procurement, and external collaborators including customers, contractors, and vendors across project sites. Governance changes accompanied the technical rollout, standardizing AFE workflows, centralizing approval accountability, and instituting status visibility to reduce disputes and claims. Today Orion Group Holdings enjoys standardized document control processes, improved accountability, more efficient and less labor intensive audits, enhanced collaboration, and time savings following the InEight Document implementation.

Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Customer Engagement CRM n/a 2019 2020
In 2019, Orion Group Holdings implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement as its Customer Engagement platform. The deployment ran in parallel with a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations program, with a coordinated enterprise go-live ETA early 2022. The initiative was managed through a PMO structure, with formal project schedules and weekly status reporting driving cross-workstream coordination. Configuration work centered on Customer Engagement functional capabilities including sales automation, service management, contact and account management, and CRM data migration workflows. Project activities included detailed strategy plans for data migration, test planning, requirement traceability, and configuration of business processes to align CRM workflows with operational needs. The implementation team documented testing and automation requirements to support staged validation of Customer Engagement functionality. Integrations were scoped to connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement with the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations deployment, and the team leveraged a Microsoft Gold partner’s DevOps environment to trace gaps between project schedules and business requirements. Operational coverage impacted finance, accounting, tax, HR, and payroll workstreams, and coordination was centered in Houston, Texas. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement implementation therefore served as the CRM layer interfacing with back office ERP processes. Governance used Sure-Step methodology combined with PMO oversight, management level charters, resource planning, weekly executive reports, and decision forms to support prioritization. Project leadership included mentoring of junior team members and use of partner DevOps tooling to manage assignments and schedule gaps. Orion maintained an early 2022 target for go-live, with execution focused on integration sequencing, testing governance, and data migration controls.
