| Microsoft | Sage 300 ERP (formerly Accpac) | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | Boyer & Associates | 2019 | 2019 | In 2019, Owl's Head Alloys began implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its cloud-based ERP Financial solution to replace Sage 300 ERP formerly known as Accpac. The project intent centered on moving accounting and financial controls into a supported, modern cloud application to provide daily visibility into company finances for the CFO and finance team. Boyer & Associates, a Microsoft gold certified partner, assumed project ownership after an initial partner stalled, and completed the implementation over a four month remediation and configuration effort. The engagement focused on core Business Central modules, with the core financial ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable configured and tailored to the company's manufacturing and recycling workflows, while a fixed assets module was placed into the implementation backlog and cost accounting and Power BI reporting were identified as next-phase capabilities. Deployment was delivered as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central cloud tenancy with Boyer consultants providing on-site support and hands-on training to finance and accounting staff, accelerating user adoption and correcting prior configuration errors. Operational coverage centered on corporate finance and accounting functions at Owl's Head Alloys, and the partner later replicated the approach for the sister company MetalWorks. Governance and process changes were led by the CFO, who enforced stricter accounting practices using Business Central, moving the team away from end of month bulk entries to day-to-day transaction visibility and drill-down analysis of invoices and general ledger entries. Owl's Head Alloys went live on January 1, 2020, and within two months reported improved ability to view exact financial position and answer transactional queries without manual reconciliation, outcomes achieved through Boyer & Associates' remediation, configuration, and training work. |
