| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 PayPal implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to support a targeted ERP Financial program for its PayPal Finance organization. The implementation centered on finance data consolidation and analytics enablement, with an emphasis on integrating transactional SAP ERP data and non SAP sources into a BW on HANA reporting and analytics fabric.
The technical delivery included end to end data integration and ETL work, with data provisioning using SAP SDI WebIDE and SAP HANA SDA for virtual table creation and integration with the HANA database. SAP tables were identified using HANA Live and change data capture and replication was managed with SAP SLT, while ABAP CDS was used to develop CDS views and HANA tables. The team developed and validated ADSOs and performed validation of data loads, data records, and correction of error records as part of the configuration and data quality effort.
Data flows were explicitly structured from PayPal site sources into BW on HANA, then through a Bank Analyzer DLL and onward into HANA for S/HANA analytics consuming CDS artifacts. Integrations spanned SAP ERP ECC and multiple non SAP data sources, creating a layered architecture that combined ETL, replication, and virtual provisioning for analytical consumption.
Governance and operational coverage were focused on PayPal Finance, with the SAP ERP/ETL technical consulting scope including identification of SAP tables, replication patterns, CDS development, ADSO validation, and ongoing data reconciliation and correction. The engagement emphasized technical data governance and operational validation processes to support finance reporting and analytics on the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 platform within the ERP Financial category.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, PayPal implemented Workday Absence Management as a core Absence and Leave Management capability. The Workday Absence Management deployment was positioned to centralize absence administration and standardize leave types, absence rules, and time off plans across HR and payroll operations.
Configuration work addressed functional modules for leave types and Leave Absence Rules, enhancements to Time off Plans for paid and unpaid leave, and comprehensive business process definition configuration. Business process configurations included adding action, approval, edit additional data steps, review documents, condition rules, alert and critical validations, and custom notifications, while calculated fields were created to support business process condition rules, custom validations, and custom alerts. The implementation also extended to job profile and compensation constructs, including compensation grades, compensation grade profiles, and eligibility rules to align absence policies with workforce eligibility.
Integration and technical architecture centered on bidirectional interfaces between Workday and external systems using Workday EIB, Core Connector, and Workday Studio. A PICOF payroll interface was configured and payroll-related objects such as Pay Groups and a Payroll Organization were provisioned to support the PICOF integration. EIB inbound integrations leveraged Workday Public Web Services to inbound transactions including Put Carry Balance Override, Hire, Termination, Correct Time Off, and Edit Position Restrictions Additional Data Correct Time Offs. The project also investigated cross-system time accumulation for Philippines employees where PTO was recorded in both Workday and Kronos.
Security and governance were implemented through User-Based, Job-Based, and Role-Based Security Groups, plus Intersection and Aggregation Security Groups, domain security policies, and business process policies to control access to absence workflows. The rollout included end-to-end business process testing and user acceptance testing, preparation of training materials, and a cadence of weekly and bi-weekly stakeholder meetings for status, change requests, and wave planning, with Global Product Owners engaged for requirements, fit-gap analysis, and delivery assignments.
Operational scope covered HR, payroll, recruiting, compensation, and time-off and leave management functions within PayPal, supported by the Workday EIB environment and Workday functional modules. The implementation also included configuration of supervisory organizations, location and cost center hierarchies, and custom reporting used for alerts and operational monitoring, and supported downstream activities such as stock grant requisitions for Manila hiring.

| Broadcom | Legacy | AppWorx Workload Automation | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014 PayPal implemented AppWorx Workload Automation as part of its Business Process Management layer to orchestrate enterprise batch processing and ETL workloads across its data engineering and operations teams. AppWorx Workload Automation was deployed to centralize job scheduling and orchestration for data pipelines feeding the enterprise data warehouse used by BI and analytics teams.
The implementation focused on workload automation and job orchestration modules that coordinated Informatica PowerCenter 9.6 mappings and sessions with Teradata load utilities, invoking UNIX ksh scripts for pre and post processing. Teams used AppWorx to sequence dependency driven job chains, manage calendar based schedules and trigger Teradata BTEQ, Fast Load, MultiLoad and TPT jobs that populated Teradata 15.0 targets from flat files and Golden Gate change capture streams.
Integrations explicitly included Informatica PowerCenter, Oracle Golden Gate, Teradata utilities and UNIX scripting, with operational tooling connected into Agile and issue tracking systems such as Rally and Jira. Operational coverage was centered on DTGOPS and ETL teams in the Omaha environment where staff split work roughly between development and production support, and developers executed unit testing and iterative validation of scheduled ETL flows.
Governance and process changes emphasized coding and naming standards, performance tuning for high CPU and skewed table processing, and coordinated cleanup of job inventory through interaction with RE and L2 teams to remove unused UC4 jobs from production. The narrative reflects PayPal AppWorx Workload Automation Business Process Management integration across ETL, operations and BI delivery workflows.
