The Kiewit SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Accounts Payable (AP) AP Automation implementation focused on establishing finance-led controls and transactional processing for Accounts Payable across corporate finance and project-linked accounting functions.
The implementation covered core FI configuration and Accounts Payable capabilities, including Automatic Payment Program setup using FBZP and F110, goods receipt and invoice receipt posting, bank determination, and creation and maintenance of house banks and bank accounts via FI12. Master data governance was a central element, with GL, profit center CO-PCA, and cost center CO-CCA master data created and maintained, along with activity types and statistical key figures, default account assignments, and allocation rules for periodic reposting and assessments.
Integration work explicitly included FI-MM procure-to-pay flows and FI-SD order-to-cash interfaces, plus monitoring and processing of IDocs to support transactional exchange. Accounts Receivable scenarios were exercised alongside AP during integration testing, covering customer and payment posting flows to validate end-to-end financial settlements and intercompany clearing account handling for cross-entity postings.
Operational governance emphasized a liaison model between development and business teams, with a Global Business Support structure providing ongoing support to end users worldwide. The implementation emphasized functional modules for leave tracking, supervisor and HR advisement workflows, and automated notification and documentation capture to support federal compliance requirements and certified payroll needs.
Integrations were executed with Kiewit systems explicitly referenced during the project, including the enterprise ERP landscape labeled ERP, SAP platform components, LCP Tracker for contractor compliance tracking, the learning management system LMS for training records, InEight for project coordination, and SharePoint for standard operating procedures and document management. The integration footprint extended to payroll reporting feeds and HR case records to ensure HR, payroll, and project teams shared consistent absence and compliance data.
Governance was formalized through SharePoint-based SOPs, coordination between HR advisors, project coordinators, management, external entities, and national teams, and documented workflows for leave administration and accommodations. The program supported ongoing process improvement efforts and maintained the highest internal compliance audit score in the Kiewit Water Facilities South project history.
