| Akeneo | Legacy | Akeneo PXM | Product Information Management | eCommerce | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020 Petra Industries implemented Akeneo PXM as its Product Information Management solution to centralize product data for a B2B eCommerce migration in the United States. The deployment used Akeneo PXM delivered as SaaS Enterprise, positioning Akeneo PXM as the central product catalog and enrichment engine across Petra’s digital channels.
The implementation configured core PIM capabilities including centralized attribute modelling, product family structures, and role-based enrichment workflows to accelerate supplier onboarding and content syndication. Automation of enrichment cycles and curated product feeds were emphasized to shorten time to market for newly onboarded SKUs, with configuration aligned to small company operational scale.
Operational coverage focused on Petra’s United States digital channels and the OroCommerce replatforming effort, with Akeneo PXM integrated into the eCommerce rollout to supply canonical product records and exported product datasets to channel endpoints. The project scope centered on product data orchestration for sales and catalog teams, and supplier-facing onboarding processes for catalog contributors.
Governance changes formalized data stewardship and supplier onboarding workflows inside Akeneo PXM, instituting staged enrichment states and approval gates to improve data quality. The Akeneo PXM deployment delivered faster enrichment cycles and helped Petra move more quickly during OroCommerce replatforming, contributing to improved product data quality and sales outcomes as reported in the implementation notes.
