In 2007, Petrobras America, Inc implemented DNV Cascade as an Asset Performance Management solution to support the Cascade and Chinook field projects in the Gulf of Mexico. The implementation was driven from an HSE and regulatory program perspective, with the HSE and Regulatory Manager leading the team responsible for securing approvals and operational readiness for the first Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit in the GOM.
The deployment emphasized verification workflows and asset integrity management, with configuration focused on verification activities, HSE monitoring, inspection planning and contractor deliverable tracking consistent with Asset Performance Management functional patterns. DNV Cascade was used to centralize verification evidence and manage service contract outputs across project phases from sanction to first oil.
Operational coverage included HSE and regulatory departments, project staff and onsite contractors working on the Cascade and Chinook field projects, and coordination with US regulatory authorities BSEE and USCG as part of the approval and verification lifecycle. The system supported the management of service contracts for HSE and verification activities, enabling structured oversight of inspection and verification tasks across the project lifecycle.
Governance was implemented under the HSE and Regulatory Manager who managed and led the verification and approvals program and all associated service contracts. The work program documented in this implementation achieved explicit safety and regulatory outcomes, including securing BSEE and USCG approvals for the FPSO and recording 3.5 million work hours with zero Loss Time Incidents from sanction to first oil.
