In 2012 Orlen implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial backbone. The deployment established SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for corporate finance and accounting across Orlen's Polish operations, centralizing core financial processes and record keeping.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation concentrated on FI and CO functionality, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, cost controlling and financial close orchestration. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts standardization, period-end closing workflows and statutory reporting configurations consistent with ERP Financial practice.
Operational coverage focused on corporate finance and treasury activities within Orlen, integrating the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 instance into routine accounting, consolidation and internal financial control processes. The program restructured transaction flows and month-end procedures to align with the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 financial module set.
A follow-on engagement provided targeted upgrade support from SAP release 4.72 to 6.06 during July 2013 to September 2013, addressing version migration tasks, upgrade testing and system stabilization. The July 2013 to September 2013 workstream was executed to bring the operating SAP footprint to the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 family and align the environment with the ERP Financial configuration.

In 2004, Orlen implemented SAP HCM (HR) in its Core HR environment. The deployment established SAP HCM (HR) as the primary platform for personnel and payroll administration across Orlen and its Capital Group companies.
The implementation includes SAP HR modules PA, PY, OM, TM and KCP, configured to support personnel administration, payroll processing, organizational management, time management and localized payroll control capabilities. Implementation activity documented includes deployment of the Working Time Card across Capital Group companies and delivery of development changes to existing HR functionalities.
Operational ownership resides with an HR and Payroll Systems Support Team that administers SAP HCM (HR), analyzes and resolves incidents, and implements customer-driven development changes. The support team participates in IT projects, performs systems administration and troubleshooting, and manages configuration updates for the PA, PY, OM, TM and KCP modules.
Governance centers on incident management, change control and project-based rollout processes, with the support team executing stabilization and configuration tasks for payroll and timekeeping. The narrative reflects an ongoing operational model focused on administration, issue resolution and incremental functional enhancements within the Core HR application landscape.

In 2007 Orlen implemented SAP Retail under a General License Agreement with SAP Polska, initiating a group-wide rollout tied directly to SAP Retail and the Retail Management category. The agreement extended license rights across the PKN ORLEN Capital Group and introduced SAP SRM as part of a coordinated program to standardize retail network and purchasing processes at scale.
The SAP Retail deployment emphasized Retail Management capabilities to develop a new retail network management model, centralize billing and transactional flows, and harmonize store-level operations such as assortment and pricing management consistent with retail best practices. Parallel adoption of SAP SRM was scoped to create the Integrated System of Purchasing and Budget Control ZSRZ, which was intended to govern purchasing workflows and budgetary control across the enterprise.
Architecturally the program linked the existing SAP for Oil and Gas industry solution, which supports excise duty settlement, into the broader retail and procurement landscape so excise-relevant production and distribution lines, regional sales representatives, and transport companies would be coordinated by a single billing system. The rollout covered multiple ORLEN Group companies including ANWIL, Rafineria Jedlicze, ORLEN PetroTank, ORLEN Deutschland, and UNIPETROL Group entities, and was planned for use by over 2,700 named users within the capital group.
Governance under the agreement focused on creating a uniform IT platform to standardize business processes across the group and to reduce the costs of managing license rights, while the integrated billing and purchasing controls were positioned to increase operational efficiency. SAP Polska acted as the licensor and strategic technology partner in the agreement, supporting Orlen's intent to extend SAP solutions across chemical and fuel industry operations and into foreign markets.
