SAP Legacy SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Apps Development PaaS STMS 2023 2023 In 2023, Polyrey implemented SAP Business Technology Platform to modernize and secure its production management applications. The SAP Business Technology Platform was adopted as the central Apps Development foundation for building web applications that maintain a live interface with the companys SAP ECC ERP, while CRM, websites and security remain managed by the parent company in Austin. Polyrey and implementation partner STMS used an agile, co-creation model to redesign three core industrial applications aligned to the manufacturing flow, finishing, lamination and impregnation. The finishing application was delivered as cloud microservices on SAP Business Technology Platform and went into production in two months, the lamination application was subsequently deployed, and the impregnation application progressed into acceptance testing. Development cadence and microservices architecture enabled rapid iteration, browser based access and replacement of RDS accounts with thin clients. Integrations were explicit and narrow in scope, the new SAP Business Technology Platform applications exchange data in real time with SAP ECC ERP and reintegrate transactional and process data into the companys SAP IS repository. A separate sample management application was developed on SAP Business Technology Platform with an interface to Salesforce and deployed across France, Germany and England, and a thermocouple management tool was developed at the end of 2023 in six weeks. These integrations preserved the ERP integration layer while enabling new browser based workflows and cross system data consolidation. Governance shifted as Polyreys IT department became a center of expertise for SAP Business Technology Platform, operating autonomously to manage and extend business applications developed with STMS. New projects were planned for 2024, including an evolution of the impregnation solution and a tablet based quality data entry app, and the IT organization is evaluating a move to SAP S4HANA for future ERP consolidation. Reported operational benefits include centralizing data into the SAP repository for automation and reporting, reducing client cost by moving to thin browser clients, and reducing reliance on desktop Office tooling through web applications.
