In 2013, Port of Portland went live with Oracle NetSuite ERP. NetSuite was provisioned as a single-instance ERP Financial solution to centralize financials, payroll, project management, asset management and shipping within the port's Victoria operations.
The implementation configured core financial management, payroll processing, project accounting, asset management and shipping modules, with system-level workflows to support ship scheduling and project lifecycle tracking. The deployment used NetSuite's cloud-based single-tenant instance approach to unify transaction processing, accounts payable and accounts receivable flows and to provide a consolidated general ledger and project costing ledger for port finance teams.
As part of this consolidation, functionality previously handled by Epicor, Astea International, HR3 and MEX was brought into the single NetSuite instance to reduce point-to-point application fragmentation. Operational coverage extended across finance, maintenance and operations groups, aligning shipping scheduling, exporter-facing operational processes and project teams under one ERP Financial record and process model.
Governance focused on standardizing financial and project workflows, centralizing AP/AR and payroll controls and streamlining ship scheduling processes to support a growing base of exporters. The program explicitly improved efficiencies in financials and project management capabilities and streamlined ship scheduling to better support exporters.
