OpenText Legacy OpenText Media Management Digital Asset Management Content Management n/a 2014 2014
In 2014 Public Broadcasting Service implemented OpenText Media Management as its Digital Asset Management platform, beginning with a 120-day pilot to give producers, member stations and internal teams controlled access to approved media assets. The rollout targeted PBS’s broadcast and media operations in the United States and explicitly supported distribution and governance needs across more than 350 member stations. OpenText Media Management was configured as a centralized Digital Asset Management repository to handle asset ingest, cataloging, metadata normalization, version control and controlled access, aligning asset stewardship with broadcast delivery requirements. The deployment was paired with OpenText Process Suite to orchestrate approval and delivery workflows, enabling programmatic handoffs between production teams and station distribution points. Operational coverage included producers, member stations and internal PBS teams responsible for promotional and programming materials, with the system serving as the authoritative source for approved assets. Integration with OpenText Process Suite provided workflow automation for approvals and delivery, reducing manual coordination between content owners and station operations. Governance was formalized through controlled access policies and managed asset lifecycles to improve asset governance and delivery workflows for member stations. The implementation specifically improved access to promotional and programming materials for member stations and internal stakeholders, reflecting a focused broadcast/media Digital Asset Management use case.
