In 2013 Puig UK deployed SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as its Data Warehouse to centralize and standardize financial reporting for the UK subsidiary of the international fashion, beauty and fragrance distributor. The SAP BW (Business Warehouse) implementation supported the management accounting close cycle and monthly results review used to prepare the local management pack.
Implementation work focused on building a semantic reporting layer, data modeling and ETL processes to aggregate transactional finance, inventory and cash data into scheduled query sets and management reports. Reporting capabilities were configured to supply the local management pack and to feed consolidation workflows used by group reporting. The deployment implemented finance-aligned reporting artifacts to support balance sheet reconciliation, stock and cash reconciliation and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
SAP BW integrated with the SAP transactional environment, SAP BPC for planning and local reporting, and Hyperion for group consolidation reports, enabling extracts and feeds between these systems. Operational coverage was concentrated in Finance, directly supporting intercompany reconciliation, tax reporting including VAT and EC sales, cash management, audit support and monthly statutory reporting obligations. The Data Warehouse provided scheduled reporting and data feeds that underpinned monthly National Statistical Office submissions and rolling cash forecasts.
Governance centered on finance-owned data reconciliation and scheduled report ownership, with the Management Accountant responsible for period end pack compilation, balance sheet integrity and coordination of intercompany reconciliations with HQ and other business units. The implementation standardized reporting inputs for budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis across the subsidiary, and restructured workflows around SAP BW report delivery and Hyperion consolidation consumption.
