| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, Queensland Rail implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial core, consolidating transactional finance and procurement processes onto a single SAP ERP ECC 6.0 instance. The deployment positioned the application as the central system of record for financial posting, procurement orchestration, and interfacing to HR and travel systems across the organization.
The implementation emphasized standard ERP Financial capabilities including financial accounting, controlling, and procure to pay workflows, with configuration focused on data heavy modules supported by purpose built data load programs. The SAP team built custom interfaces and data load programs to manage high volume master and transactional data, and configured process automation where supported by the ECC platform.
Integrations were explicitly instrumented to connect ECC with third party and cloud systems, orchestrated using SAP Cloud Platform Integration SCPI, and included Ariba eSourcing with CIG integration, Concur integration into ECC for travel and expenses, and links to EHCM SuccessFactors and EHSM C-Net Safety Suite. Project and portfolio management capabilities were coordinated via PPM, and the interface landscape combined internal and external system endpoints with bespoke connector logic developed by the SAP team.
Operational governance was run by an internal SAP functional team based in Brisbane managing eight SAP functional resources, responsible for solution design, interface development, business liaison, and technical document review and approval. The team acted as the conduit to business stakeholders, working with internal and external suppliers to plan enhancements and to assist projects to deliver within schedules and budgets where possible.

Operational coverage included development and delivery of user training, creation of training materials, coaching of HR staff, and role rotation to build a multi skilled HR Operations workforce.
Governance and workflow restructuring were enacted through participation in the HR Operations Quality Improvement Program, formal documentation of system design requirements and business processes, and adherence to Queensland Rail values, Code of Conduct and health and safety obligations.
