In 2017, Diocese of Paterson implemented Paylocity Employee Benefits as its Benefits Administration platform. The deployment centralized benefits and payroll/HRIS functions across approximately 150 diocesan entities, covering roughly 700 employees and consolidating disparate payroll and benefits processes into a single system.
Paylocity Employee Benefits was configured to support core benefits administration workflows including enrollment, eligibility management, plan administration, and benefits reporting. The implementation supported defined contribution retirement program administration and the qualification and administrative processes associated with freezing a defined benefit pension program, aligning benefits design and administration with diocesan policy.
Operational integration emphasized strategic partnerships with benefit brokers and other vendors to coordinate carrier interactions and benefits servicing while Paylocity served as the central payroll/HRIS/benefits record. Governance was centralized under the Chief Human Resources and Compliance Officer and the diocesan senior leadership team, with standardized HR and compliance infrastructure, policies, and procedures rolled out across entities to improve regulatory compliance and management information.
Outcomes recorded as part of the program included improved regulatory compliance and management information, consolidation of 150 separate payroll and benefits systems into one standardized payroll/HRIS/Benefits system, and management of a self funded medical and benefits program that was maintained at cost levels reported to be 5 to 10 percent below market trends.
