In 2017 Red Industries Ltd implemented SAP Business One, deploying an ERP Financial solution across a group of five companies in the waste and recycling sector. The engagement was led by a temporary project manager from May 2017 to July 2019, focused on ensuring that operational setup flowed through correctly into the finance module to prevent startup posting errors and to standardize financial controls across the group.
Implementation work centered on configuration of the Financial Module including Fixed Assets and Chart of Accounts, the Purchasing AP module with purchasing authorizations, and the Sales AR module. Master data work included Business Partner and Item Master setup, user provisioning with license allocation and authorisations, and functional testing of the Waste & Recycle One add on, with transaction testing across operations, sales, purchasing and finance.
A full data migration from prior transactional records was executed, accompanied by complete mapping and reconciliation of financial data between SAP Business One and the organizations previous records to validate GL determinations and invoice flows. Reporting and analytical extension included creation of SQL queries and Crystal Reports to enable sales analysis and gross margin analysis, and reconciliation workflows tied operational transactions back to SAP B1 financials for sales invoice reconciliation.
Operational rollout included hands on training for finance and operations teams, ongoing system maintenance post Go Live, and regular cross departmental meetings to resolve issues and drive adoption. The project established user authorization and purchasing approval workflows to enforce finance governance, and designated a single point of contact for ongoing SAP Business One support, training and continued development.
