In 2016, REWE Group implemented an In-House POS in the Point Of Sale category to support omnichannel checkout and in-store promotion workflows. The program was coordinated through REWE digital GmbH and linked marketing-led campaigns with point of sale concepts to increase delivery service awareness and lead generation.
The In-House POS implementation delivered standard Point Of Sale capabilities, including transaction processing and payment terminal orchestration, cashier and self-checkout workflows, a promotions engine for targeted offers, barcode and scanning services, receipt and fiscalization handling, and reporting for store-level sales. Configuration work emphasized promotion lifecycle controls and loyalty-aware pricing rules to enable target group specific approaches to REWE e-commerce services.
Integrations were focused on REWE e-commerce services and internal supply processes, connecting the In-House POS to order orchestration for delivery and pickup, and to inventory visibility feeds to support stock allocation and supply of goods across stores. Operational coverage spanned marketing, store operations, and fulfillment teams, aligning in-store promotions with online campaigns and delivery service messaging.
Governance and rollout combined centralized program management with local store execution, with marketing leadership managing three project managers to drive concept implementation, market research including mystery shopping, and process workstreams to ensure supply continuity. The implementation emphasized cross-functional workflows between merchandising, marketing, and operations rather than vendor or third party orchestration.
