SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management DalRae Solutions 2012 2012
In 2012 Rio Tinto Australia implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial application to support Source to Pay and procurement operations. DalRae Solutions acted as the system integrator on the engagement, and SAP ERP ECC 6.0 served as the core ERP Financial platform for procurement, vendor master maintenance, and invoice processing workflows. The implementation centered on P2P and Materials Management capabilities, with explicit configuration and super user support for P2P MM modules. Functional coverage included the full purchase requisition to purchase order lifecycle, vendor master management and invoice processing, and the evidence of a dedicated SAP super user role indicates hands-on configuration, issue resolution and user support for 450+ functional users. Operational integrations and coverage included a direct interface with Accounts Payable in the UK and collaboration with an outsourced global vendor team and an outsourced Buy team. The program handled new vendor registrations by coordinating internal customers, vendors and the outsourced global vendor team, and maintained a working interface with Accounts Payable to resolve vendor master issues that affect invoice payments. Governance and process changes were focused on training and SLA management, with the project training the outsourced Buy team on the complete life cycle of requisition to order and delivering comprehensive training to in-house trainers. The delivery included supervision of the outsourced Buy team and active monitoring of service levels for both the Buy team and the outsourced global vendor team to ensure SLAs set by the business were met, supporting a smooth transition from in-house operations.

SAP Legacy SAP S/4 HANA HCM Core HR HCM n/a 2017 2017
In 2017 Rio Tinto Australia implemented SAP S/4 HANA HCM as its Core HR application. The SAP S/4 HANA HCM deployment targeted HR Core, Talent Management and Payroll capabilities and included configuration of HR Navigation for end user access. Architecturally the implementation emphasized integrated HR process orchestration, using enterprise service bus, MER and API connectivity to link HR transactions and user interfaces with broader IS&T systems. Functional modules deployed included employee master data and organizational management foundations aligned to Core HR practices, time and absence constructs, and talent workflows for performance and succession management. The SAP S/4 HANA HCM application was positioned to support APAC East HR operations and centralized HR IT demand management. Governance covered vendor engagement at operational, tactical and strategic levels, and a formal vendor selection approach weighed Best of Breeds against an integrated suite as solution options. Delivery and PMO functions managed stakeholder engagement across HR and IS&T and operationalized configuration, testing and rollout activities within APAC East. The program focused on aligning HR technology demand to the HR IT strategy and on standardizing HR data flows through ESB, MER and API integration patterns.

SAP Hitachi Ellipse EAM (formerly ABB Ability Ellipse EAM) SAP Enterprise Asset Management Enterprise Asset Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2016 2016
In 2016 Rio Tinto Australia implemented SAP Enterprise Asset Management as a core element of its World Class Asset Management programme. The initiative was led from a centre of excellence and aimed to shift the organisation from a culture of reactive maintenance to an asset management model that supports condition based maintenance and predictive analytics, delivering improved productivity and cost management. The SAP Enterprise Asset Management deployment emphasized SAP EAM and PM capabilities, including equipment master data, work order management, preventive maintenance planning, reliability modelling, and lifecycle costing. Configuration work focused on enabling asset data and knowledge management to support condition monitoring feeds and analytics driven inspection and maintenance workflows. As part of the programme the SAP EAM environment replaced Hitachi Ellipse EAM, aligning enterprise maintenance processes under a single application platform. Integrations were established to bring condition monitoring and predictive analytics outputs into SAP EAM to drive condition based triggers and to centralise asset records for reliability engineering and lifecycle analysis. Governance and operational ownership rested with the asset management centre of excellence, which defined EAM/PM governance, reliability modelling standards, and lifecycle costing practices. The implementation restructured maintenance and planning workflows across Rio Tinto Australia operations, embedding process change management and capability uplift alongside the technical SAP Enterprise Asset Management rollout.
