In 2017, Sampath Bank implemented PayMedia DirectPay to add Payment Processing capabilities to its Sampath Vishwa online banking platform in Sri Lanka. PayMedia DirectPay was configured to enable real time bill payments, fund transfers and PEN based payment flows for retail and corporate customers, aligning the application with Sampath Bank's online transaction processing and customer facing payment channels.
Module usage such as Internet Payment Gateway and LankaQR is inferred from vendor case listings and public reports, and these modules would handle online acquiring, QR code acceptance and real time routing of payment instructions. Configuration work focused on payment routing, settlement configuration and authorization flows consistent with Payment Processing implementations, and PayMedia DirectPay provided the gateway layer between web and mobile channels and Sampath's internal payment operations.
The implementation integrated PayMedia DirectPay directly into the Sampath Vishwa online banking platform, covering retail banking and corporate client payment functions across Sampath's Sri Lanka footprint. Operational coverage included customer initiated bill payments and intra and interbank fund transfers, with payment flows instrumented for PEN based settlement and online reconciliation.
Rollout and governance were organized around payments operations, digital channels and corporate banking teams, with configuration and process ownership retained by Sampath Bank operational units. Controls were established in the payments processing layer to align authorization workflows and settlement handoffs, consistent with standard Payment Processing governance for online banking platforms.
