| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics AX | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | XAPT Corporation | 2013 | 2013 | In 2013, Sime Darby Industrial implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 as its ERP Financial solution. The deployment was positioned as an end to end ERP program to support rapid commercial growth, targeted to cover operations across ten countries, 132 locations and approximately 10,000 users within the Sime Darby Industrial organization. The implementation incorporated Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 core financials and domain-specific extensions, with XAPT Corporation providing Caterpillar specific Dynamics modules and heavy equipment industry functionality. Functional coverage emphasized equipment sales and rental lifecycles, parts sales and inventory management, and workshop services, aligning day to day operational workflows such as order to cash, inventory replenishment and service shop operations with the ERP Financial platform. Microsoft Consulting Services Division led implementation services in partnership with Sime Darby Industrial and XAPT Corporation, executing a phased rollout planned to complete over a 28 month program. The program scope cited support for 10,000 users and intended to unify disparate applications that had previously covered only a portion of business processes, bringing standardized processes and system ownership into a central Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 estate. Governance was driven by internal Business Project Teams that defined requirements and configuration priorities, with explicit goals to make IT a strategic asset and to improve employee productivity and insight generation. Selection criteria called out performance, scalability and ease of maintenance as drivers for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 within the ERP Financial category, and the phased approach and vendor roles established clear operational handoffs for rollout and sustainment. |
