In 2014 SmartBear migrated from Sage Intacct to Oracle NetSuite ERP. The implementation targeted the finance and accounting organization at SmartBear, a United States based professional services software company with approximately 800 employees, and was scoped as an ERP Financial program to centralize transactional accounting and reporting.
Oracle NetSuite ERP was configured to deliver core ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. Configuration work included chart of accounts redesign, period close controls, and AR/AP workflow automation aligned to standard financial control frameworks.
The transition involved extraction and migration of historical financial data from Sage Intacct into Oracle NetSuite ERP, with remapping of account structures and transactional histories to the new chart of accounts. Data migration and validation were focal points to ensure continuity of invoicing and reconciliations during cutover.
Governance changes during the rollout emphasized centralized financial processes, role based access controls within the ERP Financial system, and process documentation to support month end close and auditability. The implementation was executed as a cross functional program between accounting, finance operations, and IT to operationalize the new Oracle NetSuite ERP environment within SmartBear.
