In 2016, Solvay implemented SAP S/4 HANA - Accounts Payables as a targeted AP Automation initiative within its finance organization. The rollout used an S/4HANA company model and was executed from a technical managed application support structure, with a scope manager leading the launch of a TMA for ongoing operations.
The implementation covered configuration and functional ownership across FI-AP and adjacent finance capabilities, with the team also acting as functional referent for FI-AR, FSCM, and Treasury modules. Training activities included SAP S4F01 and S4F02 coursework followed by the implementation of a complete company instance aligned to S/4HANA modeling practices.
Operational governance was organized through a TMA model, with a scope manager supervising a team of approximately 10 consultants distributed across Portugal and India, and responsibility for customer relations and functional supervision. The approach centralized finance process stewardship, establishing a single point of contact for FI-AP, FI-AR, FSCM, and Treasury functional workflows.
SAP S/4 HANA - Accounts Payables provided AP Automation capabilities across invoice processing, payable posting, and finance workflow orchestration, enabling standardized payables controls and centralized governance within Solvay's finance function.

In 2016, Solvay implemented UKG Workforce Central HR (ex Kronos Workforce HR) as its Core HR solution to centralize timekeeping, payroll and workforce management across its manufacturing operations. The implementation targeted HR, payroll and operations teams and positioned UKG Workforce Central HR (ex Kronos Workforce HR) as the system of record for employee time and absence data and payroll processing.
The deployment included core Workforce Central components such as Scheduling, Time and Attendance, Timekeeper, Time and Labor, Absence Management and Performance Management, with additional use of Kronos Workforce Telestaff for complex leave and benefit accruals governed by unit bargaining agreement rules. Configuration work encompassed creation of Kronos pay rules, work rules, pay code profiles, wage profiles, FAPs, schedules, labor levels and labor level sets, as well as display profiles and Kronos Genies to support user interfaces and scheduler logic. The team also automated compensation management processes using Workforce Ready and built executive analytics dashboards and weekly payroll reports to surface operational and payroll metrics.
Operational integration and systems management covered the interface between Kronos and a Performance Based Compensation Tool to ensure drivers were paid according to regional rules, ongoing maintenance of Kronos Workforce Central services including service pack application and connection troubleshooting, and coordination of multiple PeopleSoft and Kronos upgrades with testing, documentation and training. Responsibilities extended to installing and customizing Stromberg Time and Attendance software for corporate clients and acting as global administrator for employee engagement surveys, including organizational mapping, delivery and customized reporting of survey data.
Governance and quality practices were formalized through error reporting, escalation and management processes for test execution, and generation of test data across Payroll, Recruiting, Workforce Management and Benefits stages. Custom workflows were created to automate notifications to helpdesk, security and facilities administrators on new hire, rehire and termination events across employee types and regions. The implementation included oversight of QA testing activities for all Kronos HR and Timekeeper initiatives and operational data fixes to resolve accrual mismatches and carryover balance issues, while the compensation automation work explicitly improved visibility and governance.

In 2009, Solvay's Tavaux plant in France deployed the Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System as part of a targeted Plant Maintenance implementation. The deployment was focused on asset and device management, field diagnostics, and predictive maintenance at the plant level, with the Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System serving as the control layer for instrumentation data.
Solvay implemented Emerson's AMS Suite together with the DeltaV digital automation system, explicitly integrating AMS Suite with DeltaV to centralize field device management and diagnostics. The implementation leveraged AMS Suite diagnostic and device health capabilities to feed condition data into maintenance workflows, enabling predictive alerts and consolidated device records tied to control system tags.
The architecture was plant-deployed, linking AMS Suite diagnostic streams into the DeltaV control environment so maintenance technicians could access device condition via DeltaV interfaces and AMS Suite consoles. Operational scope covered the Tavaux plant maintenance organization and field instrumentation, aligning device-level diagnostics with daily maintenance execution.
Reported outcomes included maintenance productivity gains of 10 to 15 percent, attributed to improved field device management and predictive maintenance enabled by the combined Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System and AMS Suite solution. Governance and process adjustments included assigning diagnostic ownership to maintenance teams and embedding AMS-driven alerts into maintenance planning and work order processes.
