| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, Sonatrach developed the Data Migration and Data Governance approach, plans and organization to enable SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial implementation across its finance estate. The work focused on aligning data practices with the S/4 HANA data model and establishing an operating model for corporate finance, regional accounting, treasury, tax and fixed asset management as primary business functions impacted by the ERP Financial program.
The implementation emphasized SAP S/4 HANA financial capabilities including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and management accounting modules to meet statutory and management reporting needs. Configuration guidance concentrated on master data harmonization for chart of accounts, cost centers and profit centers, and on conversion routines to transform transactional and master records into canonical S/4 HANA structures.
The migration approach specified staged technical architecture with a validated staging area, extract, transform and load processes, and conversion scripts mapped to the SAP S/4 HANA data model, together with reconciliation and cutover validation plans. Data profiling, cleansing and enrichment were sequenced ahead of conversion runs, and test cycles were organized to support iterative data load validation and cross-functional transaction reconciliation.
Governance and organizational design established a data governance council, nominated data owners and stewards within finance and supporting functions, and formalized approval workflows for master data changes. Operational deliverables included data standards, metadata definitions, cutover playbooks and role based responsibilities to sustain data quality in the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial environment and to support the broader business transformation objectives.

In 2015, Sonatrach implemented Bently Nevada System 1 as an enterprise monitoring and diagnostics platform. The deployment positioned Bently Nevada System 1 within Sonatrach’s Asset Performance Management environment to support gas turbines and turbo compressors, providing centralized configuration, analysis, and troubleshooting for rotating machinery across Hassi R'mel operations.
Bently Nevada System 1 was used for enterprise configuration, real time vibration monitoring, alarm management, trend analysis, and root cause investigation, aligning with standard Asset Performance Management capabilities. The implementation supported functional workflows for commissioning and loop checks, and enabled upload and download of diagnostic and optimization programs used during turbine start up and troubleshooting.
Operational integration included close work with GE SPEEDTRONIC control families Mark II, Mark V, Mark VI, and Mark VIe during turbine troubleshooting, start up, and control platform retrofit activities, and it complemented GE CIMPLICITY HMI viewers development for operator displays. The project scope covered turbo compressors Frame 5 control systems retrofit to Mark VIe with OPTICOMP antisurge control upgrade, and hands on troubleshooting across GE Frame 5 gas turbines and associated auxiliaries.
Governance and rollout were execution focused, with on site leadership of technician teams for loop check, commissioning, major inspection, instrument disassembly and assembly, and overspeed testing of HP and LP shafts. Bently Nevada System 1 supported commissioning acceptance workflows and was part of a successful optimisation activity for the MS5002C lube oil cooler algorithm under Mark V control in the Hassi R'mel region.
