Functional modules implemented include automated product configuration, BOM management, routing automation, real time shop floor data collection, mobile data capture, lot tracking and bin management, all configured to support short cycle manufacturing steps and a high volume of unique items with low repeat rates.
Integrations centered on tight operational coupling between the Insight Works data collection and manufacturing modules and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS to ensure transactional consistency and traceability from receipt through production and dispatch. Operational scope covered production planning, shop floor execution, inventory control, quality and logistics, with mobile devices used for material receipt and live tracking to eliminate manual paperwork and delayed data flows.
Governance and rollout required remedial vendor engagement when the initial deployment by a third party reached roughly eighty percent completion, prompting Insight Works to provide onsite engineering support to finalize configuration and enable continuous production. Insight Works implemented the solution alongside Dynamics 365 Business Central to provide real time shop floor data collection and to align production transactions with ERP records.
The implementation of Insight Works Shop Floor Insight included functional modules for real time shop floor data collection, automated product configuration to support bespoke product variants, and mobile inventory tracking for on floor material movement. Configuration focused on capturing production events, scanning enabled mobile workflows, and automating Bill of Materials and routing entry to reduce manual BOM and routing work.
Architecturally the solution was integrated with Dynamics 365 Business Central to synchronize BOM, routing and inventory records, enabling ERP level visibility into shop floor transactions and supporting traceability across order and material flows. Mobile devices and shop floor terminals were used to capture labor and production status, feeding production visibility back into Business Central to close the loop between planning and execution.
Governance and operational scope targeted manufacturing and production functions at Sotech United Kingdom, with processes restructured to move manual configuration and paperwork onto electronic shop floor workflows. The project improved inventory traceability, reduced manual BOM and routing work, and delivered real time production visibility and efficiency gains.
