In 2009 Southern Cross University implemented TechnologyOne Financials as its core ERP Financial application. The deployment was managed within the university's Administrative Systems Group, which administers Technology One Student Management, Finance and Supply Chain systems and oversees more than 30 technical staff including business analysts, project managers, analyst programmers, DBAs and technical support.
TechnologyOne Financials was configured to provide standard ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement controls and budgetary management, with configuration and testing managed through university project management processes. The implementation approach emphasized module-level configuration and staged upgrades consistent with enterprise financial system practices to align chart of accounts, transaction posting rules and approvals with university finance procedures.
Operationally the Financials implementation sat alongside Aurion HR, MS Dynamics CRM, Course and Unit Management and the MIS and BI environments under ASG stewardship, supporting finance, procurement and academic administration workflows across campuses. Ongoing application support and reporting responsibilities were centralized in the Administrative Systems Group to maintain operational continuity and to coordinate data feeds and reconciliations with institutional reporting systems.
Project governance reflected the university retained the project manager who led the Technology One Student System Ci Upgrade, following that successful delivery the same manager was assigned to oversee the Finance One Ci Upgrade. Governance and rollout were executed through staged upgrade windows, ASG runbooks and project management oversight during a broader Technology Services restructure, with ASG providing both implementation project delivery and subsequent operational support for TechnologyOne Financials.

Operational responsibilities covered day to day system operation, incident and change coordination, project planning and resource deployment for multiple student applications and systems within Technology Services. The role required close operational integration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning and alignment of system configuration with student administration information systems and associated processes.
Governance and staffing expectations included leadership of a large team of IT specialists, service delivery enhancement, staff development, cost estimation and reporting, and contribution to university strategic goals and values of integrity and collegiality. The position was offered as a continuing full time role based at the Gold Coast or Lismore campuses with a remuneration package up to $138,275 per annum.

Operational integrations and coverage were managed directly by the Administrative Systems Group in Lismore NSW, reflecting the ASG portfolio that also operates TechnologyOne Finance and Supply Chain systems, Aurion HR systems, Course and Unit Management UCMS, MS Dynamics CRM, MIS and BI, the SCU web sites, and niche web applications. These systems were treated as integration and data exchange points for student financials, HR rostering and payroll feeds, CRM-driven student engagement, and MIS and BI reporting pipelines, with DBAs and technical support responsible for data integrity and operational availability.
Governance and rollout were orchestrated by the Administrative Systems Manager, leading more than 30 technical staff including business analysts, project managers, analyst programmers, DBAs, and technical support. Governance practices included cross-functional change control between student administration, finance, HR, and MIS stakeholders, and continued operational support and configuration ownership by the ASG team.
