SAP Legacy SAP Business Suite ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2005 2005
In 2005, Stihl implemented SAP Business Suite to centralize its enterprise financial operations. The SAP Business Suite deployment served as the core ERP Financial platform to standardize accounting, billing and financial reporting across the organization. Implementation utilized SAP-ERP Financials capabilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and expense management to instrument end-to-end financial workflows. Configuration prioritized accurate billing and vendor invoice processing, with reconciliation routines and subledger controls configured to support transactional integrity and auditability. The system was used to record and track employee expenses through formal expense reporting and reconciliation processes. The operational scope concentrated on finance and accounting functions, aligning vendor payment processing and employee expense capture within SAP Business Suite. No external system integrations are documented in the source material, so the narrative emphasizes in-application financial processing and consolidated report generation. Stihl produced and reconciled various financial reports to ensure thorough audit records, establishing an auditable trail for payable and expense activity. Explicit outcomes reported include reduced delinquency by providing accurate billing to ensure timely payments of vendor invoices, and improved audit readiness through reconciled financial reporting.

SAP Legacy SAP SuccessFactors Compensation Compensation Management HCM n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, Stihl implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as a targeted Compensation Management deployment within a global HR transformation program. The SAP SuccessFactors Compensation implementation was coordinated with existing SuccessFactors modules to establish standardized pay planning and variable compensation governance across the company. The implementation included configuration of compensation cycles, eligibility rules, budget controls, merit and bonus frameworks, and calibration workflows consistent with Compensation Management best practices. SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was implemented alongside Performance & Goals, Learning, SF Talent, Development & Succession, Recruiting, RMK and related SuccessFactors capabilities to align performance outcomes with pay decisions. Integrations were executed to connect SAP SuccessFactors Compensation with Employee Central, EC Payroll, SAP HCM PY PT and SAP 4 HANA to maintain a single HR data model and ensure payroll and financial alignment. The architecture positioned Employee Central as the central HR record while compensation data interfaced with payroll and HR transactional systems for downstream processing and reporting. Program governance was led by a Global Program Manager for HR Transformation and SuccessFactors rollout, supported by a Head of HR Processes and Systems and a Change and Communications Manager. Governance activities focused on process harmonization, role based approval workflows, change communication and structured rollout sequencing across HR functions globally.

SAP Legacy SAP BW (Business Warehouse) Data Warehouse Analytics and BI n/a 2015 2015
In 2015, Stihl executed a joint proof of concept with Camelot ITLab to evaluate SAP BW (Business Warehouse) on SAP HANA for its Data Warehouse analytics. The engagement focused on assessing SAP BW (Business Warehouse) performance characteristics when paired with the in-memory SAP HANA database. The technical evaluation concentrated on core Data Warehouse functions, including data modeling, data provisioning and ETL workflows, and query and reporting execution under SAP BW (Business Warehouse). The POC exercised standard BW analytics workloads and BI consumption patterns to surface runtime and throughput behavior, reflecting typical enterprise data warehousing capabilities. Architecturally the trial validated SAP BW running atop the SAP HANA in-memory store, shifting query processing to HANA to reduce disk-bound operations and accelerate runtime. Camelot ITLab and Stihl structured the proof of concept to quantify performance delta, and the measured outcome showed analytics running up to 30 times faster on SAP HANA compared with the non-HANA baseline. Operationally the work targeted analytics and reporting functions used by Stihl for manufacturing and business decision support, informing further planning for SAP BW (Business Warehouse) deployment on an in-memory platform. The POC outcome provided a performance signal to guide governance and rollout considerations without asserting subsequent rollout scope or timelines.
