In 2021, Stockland implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system, replacing Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and aligned the program to cover finance and procurement processes integrated with third party collaboration platforms. The deployment was scoped to validate complex cross application business flows and to establish a repeatable automated assurance layer during cutover to production.
Planit Testing was engaged as the testing partner for the SAP S/4 HANA program, selected for its SAP and Salesforce testing experience and test automation capability. Planit ran a proof of concept and selected Tricentis Tosca, then implemented a model based test automation framework that scans UI and APIs to produce reusable, business readable modules, enabling updates to a module to propagate across all impacted test cases.
Testing coverage explicitly included SAP S/4 HANA and the SAP Ariba procurement and supply chain collaboration solution it integrated with, plus Salesforce and the SAP Process Integration and Process Orchestration middleware used to interface between the SAP solutions and Salesforce. The delivery produced a comprehensive automated regression pack, with approximately 500 test cases created for SAP S/4 HANA and 300 for Salesforce, 300 automated scripts for Salesforce, and 524 cases focused on automated S/4 HANA testing noted during build.
Governance and execution followed a high cadence test creation and run schedule, delivering 160 test cases per month for a total of 1,280 by go live, with a target throughput of ten test cases per day and an offshore onshore resourcing split of 60 percent offshore and 40 percent onshore to extend the testing window. Outcomes recorded in the program included reductions in manual execution time for representative scenarios, a regression suite of 924 test cases executed on a fortnightly basis with 200 cases from each application retained in active regression, and vendor collaboration where Planit managed the Tosca license in partnership with Tricentis to resolve technical issues and streamline tool administration.
