In-House Applications Legacy In-House Absence Management Absence and Leave Management HCM Fineos 2021 2021
In 2021, Sun Life United States launched an In-House Absence Management application in the Absence and Leave Management category. The in-house application centralizes paid and unpaid leave processing and is positioned as an HR and benefits focused absence and disability management capability serving multi-state operations in the United States. The In-House Absence Management solution implements claimant intake and case management workflows, coordinated absence and disability management processes, an embedded rules capability for federal and state leave including FMLA and PFML, and compliance reporting for multi-state employers. The solution provides a single claimant experience intended to streamline HR and benefits team interactions and consolidate leave entitlement and documentation handling. Architecturally the deployment is an in-house application powered by the FINEOS IDAM platform, with Fineos listed as the platform partner in the implementation. The configuration centralizes statutory leave logic and compliance reporting within the FINEOS IDAM integration layer, enabling consistent business rules and reporting across jurisdictions. The integration with FINEOS IDAM is used to deliver absence lifecycle orchestration and disability claim coordination. Design and rollout were informed by employer and employee feedback to optimize user experience and operational workflows for HR and benefits teams. Operational coverage explicitly targets United States multi-state clients and the HR and benefits functions that manage leave and disability. Governance focuses on centralized claimant processing, rules administration, and consolidated compliance reporting workflows. The implementation improved employer and employee experience and enhanced compliance reporting for multi-state clients, outcomes identified in the deployment announcement. Sun Life United States operates the In-House Absence Management application as its internally managed Absence and Leave Management capability.
