In 2016, TAFE SA deployed Basware E-Invoicing to centralize accounts payable processing. TAFE SA implemented Basware E-Invoicing as an AP Automation solution to support accounts payable and procurement functions across the vocational education provider, which has approximately 1,950 employees in Australia.
The Basware E-Invoicing implementation focused on core AP Automation capabilities including electronic invoice capture, automated invoice validation, configurable approval workflows, and supplier invoice management. Configuration emphasized inbound e-invoice normalization and workflow routing to enforce invoice validation and authorisation rules consistent with institutional procurement policies.
Operational coverage included the accounts payable team and procurement stakeholders, with supplier invoicing streams routed into Basware E-Invoicing for centralized processing. In particular invoices from the supplier appointed under the across government Travel Management Services Contract are invoiced in Basware E-Invoicing, ensuring travel supplier billing flows through the AP Automation system rather than decentralised payment channels.
Governance was adjusted to reflect procurement and travel policy, travel bookings for air travel were mandated to the appointed supplier and invoices handled through Basware E-Invoicing, therefore credit cards should not be used for air travel under any circumstances. The implementation institutionalised invoice routing and approval controls in Basware E-Invoicing to align payment controls with the organisation's travel and procurement governance.
