In 2018 Telkom implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system. The deployment was executed through Telkom group IT and oriented around cross-functional solution integration led by a Senior Specialist in solution integration, with project management and SI lead coordination across service organisations and business units.
The SAP S/4 HANA implementation focused on core finance capabilities common to ERP Financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and treasury-related processing, configured for S/4 HANA data and transaction models. The S/4 HANA upgrade project workstream included configuration and cutover planning to align financial master data, chart of accounts and period-end processing with the S/4 HANA platform.
Integration work explicitly tied SAP S/4 HANA to several adjacent systems, including the iCRES Archibus facility management solution, HCM SuccessFactors for HR and payroll data flows, SAP Ariba for upstream and downstream procurement integration, Connect:Direct and banking file specifications for payment and treasury interfaces, and the ProjeXion project management tool. The implementation also included deployment activities for the Gyro company within the Telkom group, indicating intra-group system orchestration.

In 2018, Telkom implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central was configured as the central employee master and organizational management system, delivering employee profile and position management, and core employee lifecycle workflows such as hire, transfer and termination aligned to the Core HR data model. Configuration included onboarding workflows, role based access controls, and design of payroll and benefits interface patterns consistent with Core HR practices for an organisation of approximately 9,868 employees.
Integrations were planned and coordinated with adjacent enterprise systems referenced during the program, including SAP Ariba upstream and downstream touch points, the S/4HANA ERP upgrade effort, the iCRES Archibus solution, upgraded Connect:Direct and banking file specifications, the ProjeXion project management tool, and the Telkom SAP instance in Gyro. Governance established centralized change control within Telkom group IT and integrated project management across HR, finance and procurement stakeholders, with the Senior Specialist: Solution integration overseeing delivery and operational handover.

In 2013, Telkom implemented NetCracker BSS/OSS. The NetCracker BSS/OSS deployment in 2013 targeted Telkom's OSS/BSS functions across network operations and customer-facing business support systems, establishing a platform to coordinate billing and service lifecycle processes.
Configuration encompassed core BSS modules such as billing, rating, invoicing and customer care, together with OSS modules including service fulfillment, service assurance, inventory and provisioning, reflecting standard OSS/BSS capabilities. The implementation included configurable customer management workflows and mediation-capable components to support order to cash and service activation sequences.
Architecture and integration work focused on aligning NetCracker BSS/OSS with Telkom operational systems, including network management interfaces, mediation layers and back-office financial and CRM workflows, to enable end-to-end service lifecycle orchestration. Data synchronization and mediation were emphasized to link network event and inventory data with billing and customer records.
Operational scope covered Telkom's South Africa operations across network operations, customer service and billing teams, with rollout staged to limit operational risk and governed by program-level change control and cross-functional process ownership. Governance efforts centered on adapting operational workflows, defining process ownership and establishing controls for ongoing OSS/BSS operations.
