In 2018, the National Centre for Space Studies - CNES implemented SAP Concur Expense as its primary Expense Management application. The initiative was delivered as a core-model solution designed and executed by Capgemini, beginning with structured workshops to capture CNES requirements and needs for travel and expense processes.
The engagement produced detailed functional design documents that defined configuration of expense workflows, approval routing, and accounting posting logic consistent with CNES finance policies. The SAP Concur Expense implementation focused on standardizing travel and expense processes across CNES, with emphasis on a core-model approach to enable repeatable configuration and controlled functional variance.
Technical scope included designing interfaces between SAP Concur Expense and CNES SAP accounting ERP, and between SAP Concur Expense and SAP HR, to support automated posting, cost center assignment, and employee master data synchronization. The program also included operational coordination and technical follow-up with the travel agency and lodge card provider to ensure booking, lodge card transaction feeds, and reconciliation flows aligned with the designed interfaces.
Governance activities centered on workshop-driven requirements gathering, signoff of functional design documents, and handover processes to CNES finance and HR teams. Capgemini led solution design and integration oversight while working with CNES stakeholders and third party travel providers to operationalize the core-model SAP Concur Expense deployment.

In 2018 The National Centre for Space Studies - CNES implemented SAP Concur Travel as its enterprise travel and expense platform within a Travel Management program. The engagement focused on the design of a Core-model Solution of the travel and expense tool SAP Concur for CNES, using workshops to gather requirements and align travel policies across corporate units and business functions responsible for travel planning and expense control.
The project deliverables included functional design documentation and configuration guidance for standard travel management capabilities such as itinerary booking workflows, expense capture and reconciliation, policy enforcement, approval routing, and cost allocation to accounting codes. Workshops were used to translate CNES requirements into detailed functional specifications, and those specifications informed the core-model configuration intended to provide consistency across CNES business units.
Architecturally the work documented interfaces between SAP Concur Travel and CNES enterprise systems, explicitly designing integrations to the accounting ERP SAP and to SAP HR for employee master data synchronization. The scope included defining data mapping and transaction flows for GL posting and expense accounting, and coordinating supplier connectivity with the travel agency and lodge card provider. Capgemini served as the systems integrator responsible for implementation delivery and operational coordination with external travel suppliers.
Governance activities captured in the engagement comprised facilitated workshops, formal functional design sign off, and ongoing follow up with the travel agency and lodge card provider to align operational processes and supplier onboarding. The focus remained on embedding travel and expense workflows into existing HR and finance processes through the SAP Concur Travel implementation and the designed integration touchpoints.
