| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2021 | 2022 |
In 2021 New York Power Authority migrated from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation established a centralized ERP Financial platform to consolidate core finance, billing, sales and distribution processing across the enterprise.
The deployment covered Accounts Payable automation, billing configuration, and finance-ledger consolidation, with explicit inclusion of account reconciliation and treasury capabilities. Project work included BlackLine implementation and integration activities tied to the SAP environment, treasury connectivity with KYRIBA, automated financial reporting that had been running from the BI data warehouse, updates to depreciation calculations for fixed assets and transmission lines, and the Single Use Account payments project to accelerate vendor payment access.
Integrations and operational coverage were broad, with BlackLine integrated with SAP ERP and with KYRIBA to link reconciliation and treasury workflows. An enterprise-wide transition to an electronic Time & Attendance and Payroll system introduced biometric and mobile integration to capture time for 2000 regular managerial and unionized employees as well as contingent workers and consultants, aligning workforce data with financial processes.
Governance and rollout were driven by a newly created finance transformation unit in the Controller's office, reporting into CFO and CIO stakeholders and managing a core team and multiple vendors. The program emphasized process automation including robotic process automation in Accounts Payable, creation of a new company code to support green bond issuance, and standardization of reporting and depreciation governance to support a scalable, service-oriented SAP S/4 HANA finance platform.

Governance and operationalization were supported by SAP Personas and Fiori enhancements for HR transactions and ESS MSS interfaces and by SAP CoE development and certification activities, which centralized configuration governance and change control for the SuccessFactors suite. Technical platform stabilization activities included Unicode and Enhancement Pack upgrades for SAP ECC and Portal to maintain interoperability with the SAP SuccessFactors deployment.
