SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2015 2015
In 2015, The Scotts Company implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform to centralize month end balances and support automation of account reconciliation procedures driven by SOX compliance requirements. The finance consolidation and controls organization identified risks in spreadsheet-based reconciliations and sought an integrated, standardized approach to reconcile accounts and retain supporting documentation across multiple global locations. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 served as the source of record for account balances and SAP document numbers, which were integrated with a phased deployment of BlackLine applications. The deployment included Account Reconciliations and Task Management initially, with Journal Entry added in 2015, and configurations emphasized account-level reconciliation templates, header-level history and procedures, and electronic signature capture for journal approvals. Integrations were implemented to load account balances directly from SAP ERP Financials into the reconciliation and task platform, and to allow auditors to retrieve journals using SAP document numbers, creating a direct linkage between SAP transactional data and reconciliation artifacts. Operational coverage began with the corporate accounting group and expanded to preparers, approvers, and auditors across the business, automating recurring audit-driven activities and documentation flows. Governance and workflow changes defined explicit preparer and approver roles and standardized reconciliation procedures on an account-by-account basis. Reported outcomes in the deployment included auto-certification of more than 1,000 accounts, automation of approximately 1,100 journals, elimination of paper-based reconciliation storage, and streamlined audits supported by the combined SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and integrated reconciliation, task, and journal management applications.

SecureSheet Technologies Legacy SecureSheet Compensation Management HCM n/a 2006 2006
In 2006, The Scotts Company deployed SecureSheet as a Compensation Management application to automate multiple shared spreadsheet projects. The implementation was announced in December 2006 and the vendor press release explicitly cites Pay and Performance Management as a use case for SecureSheet across Scotts operations. The deployment focused on two formalized functional workflows, Pay and Performance Management for HR and Sarbanes Oxley ERP data verification for finance. SecureSheet provided a web based shared spreadsheet layer and workflow automation to enable real time shared data and to streamline pay and performance workflows across those projects. Integrations centered on importing and verifying ERP data for Sarbanes Oxley compliance oriented checks, while the Pay and Performance Management capability centralized distributed compensation inputs and review steps. Operational coverage spanned HR and finance teams across Scotts operations, consolidating multiple previously decentralized spreadsheet efforts into a single application instance. Governance and process changes targeted spreadsheet project coordination by instituting a common application for data entry, validation, and workflow progression, aligning pay and performance processing with finance verification tasks. SecureSheet was implemented as the selected SecureSheet application and served as the operational hub tying Compensation Management to HR and finance business functions.
