In 2014, Time Warner Cable implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics as part of its Analytics and BI environment. The deployment targeted Technical Operations and was used to deliver both regular operational metric reporting and KPI dashboards as well as manager-driven ad-hoc analytics projects.
MicroStrategy ONE Analytics was configured to support scheduled reporting and interactive ad-hoc analysis, while reporting workflows continued to include custom reports produced in Cognos. Report authors and analysts wrote SQL queries and constructed custom reports in both MicroStrategy and Cognos to address recurring operational scorecards and on demand analytical requests.
The implementation relied on locally hosted data sources, with on premise MS SQL Server instances and Access databases maintained to feed MicroStrategy ONE Analytics. Developers and analysts built and maintained those local databases, and they created Python scripts to automate routine data preparation and streamline repetitive reporting tasks.
Operational scope concentrated on Technical Operations managers and the teams responsible for operational metrics and KPIs, embedding reporting and ad-hoc analytics into existing operational processes. Governance emphasis was placed on report ownership, SQL query management, and local database administration rather than centralized cloud data restructuring.
