In 2015, TPI Composites implemented Oracle E-Business Suite in an ERP Financial deployment focused on the transportation division where the author served as business lead and global process owner. The implementation encompassed enterprise resource planning for operations, distribution, and financial application modules and provided global application support across day to day functions during all phases of the project life cycle. The scope included project management for two remote facilities and oversight of an initial Oracle ERP 11i go live followed by a next phase readiness for Oracle R12 segments.
Configuration and functional work concentrated on cycle count processes, Material Requisition Planning MRP, min/max planning, Billing of Materials BOM and router restructuring, and detailed cost management controls. The team developed Oracle procedure documents to support end users, authored BR100 business requirement documents, and created test scripts for UAT and SIT to validate MRP and ERP process updates. Standardization of Master Data Management MDM was co developed, eliminating global organization database redundancy by 50 percent.
Integrations and operational coverage included a Cherwell ticketing database built to capture global support requests, testing protocols, and help desk workflows, and coordination with finance to perform data analysis on cost of goods sold for quarterly and annual profit and loss. The program delivered role based training using Oracle User Productivity Kit UPK and Articulate generated materials, training all associates on process and system changes, and conducted SME training to drive go live readiness. Operational responsibilities extended to expedited global production support, resolution of IT tickets, and maintenance of end user documentation and global standard procedures.
Governance and rollout practices were formalized through BR100 documentation, SOX audit process development and associated control documentation, and established project plans to manage team deliverables and schedules. The implementation managed change control for MRP and demand planning processes, and enforced test discipline through scripted SIT, UAT, and go live testing cycles to ensure operational readiness. Help desk metrics were instituted to prioritize impact to product and production.
Explicit outcomes included reducing global database redundancy by 50 percent through MDM standardization and reducing the lifecycle of global Cherwell tickets older than 60 days by 80 percent within two months, while defining a costing process to report actual COGS versus estimated value per manufactured unit for the transportation manufacturing business unit. These outcomes supported recurring quarterly cost roll ups to inform customer contract reviews and profit baselining.
