In 2017, Traveloka implemented Oracle e-Business Suite Accounts Payable as part of an AP Automation program for its finance operations. The deployment focused on embedding Oracle e-Business Suite Accounts Payable into the broader Oracle EBS R12 finance footprint to support accounts payable processing and related controls.
The implementation functioned as a subject matter engagement across Oracle EBS R12 Finance modules, covering AP, AR, GL, FA, CM, SLA, and EBTax. Teams leveraged standard Oracle EBS functionality, identified product gaps, and mapped and improved existing business flows to align AP Automation workflows with Traveloka's finance processes.
Workstreams included change request handling, customization, and daily operations support, with responsibilities spanning analysis, design, recommendation, build, and stakeholder training. The role required intermediate programming logic to liaise with engineering counterparts and to act as the bridge between onsite users and offshore IT for issues, bugs, change requests, patches, data fixes, and business operation re-engineering.
Project governance emphasized IT audit compliance and controlled rollout, with documentation produced such as Change Request Forms, BR100 setup, Functional and Design Specifications, System Integration Test cases, and User Acceptance Test cases, and assistance during UAT. In 2016, Traveloka implemented the Sift Science Digital Trust Platform as an ML and Data Science Platforms solution to address rising payment fraud and account takeover incidents across its regional operations. The initiative was driven by a need to reduce false positives from an existing rules-based screening process while preserving low fraud rates for both payments and account access.
Traveloka deployed two separate, custom machine learning models within the Sift Science Digital Trust Platform, one focused on payment abuse and one focused on account takeover, both leveraging behavioral data and big data signals for real-time scoring. The implementation used Sift’s API and the Sift Console to surface a holistic view of user activity, enabling automated scoring at point of checkout and at login, and providing an investigator interface for the fraud and risk team.
The integration with Sift expanded operational coverage beyond a single team, aligning product, fraud and risk, customer service, and marketing operations to a common detection engine. Traveloka’s Jakarta-based product team led model configuration and tuning, and the Sift Console became the primary investigation and case management tool for cross‑regional offices in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Governance shifted from static rules to an adaptive machine learning workflow, with in-house analysts using Sift-provided signals to tune thresholds and reduce manual review. Outcomes reported by Traveloka include accepting twice the number of orders that were previously blocked by rules, a threefold reduction in traffic routed to 3D Secure, faster checkout for legitimate customers, and fewer overall account takeover incidents.
