In 2018, Trex Company, Inc. began a cloud proof of concept that deployed Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as the core ERP platform, driven by a hardware refresh and the need to move away from managing on premises infrastructure. The implementation targeted ERP Financial use cases and was positioned to validate cloud hosting and operations for Trex’s growing international footprint.
The Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment was configured to run on Microsoft Windows and SQL Server based infrastructure, aligning platform operational needs with the company’s existing JDE estate. Configuration work focused on standard ERP Financial capabilities such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, transaction processing and financial reporting, consistent with the application category and Trex’s finance and accounting requirements.
Deployment architecture was built on Syntax Enterprise Cloud powered by Amazon Web Services, with Syntax serving as the implementation partner. Syntax EnterpriseCare Monitoring for JD Edwards was implemented alongside proprietary Syntax IP for monitoring and billing, providing an integrated hosting, monitoring and cost tracking stack that supports high availability operations and JDE specific tooling that runs on AWS.
Governance and rollout followed a proof of concept driven path, with Syntax and AWS jointly demonstrating cloud operations and operational support, leveraging Syntax’s experience with more than 30 cloud migrations to AWS and its position as a leading JD Edwards on AWS provider. The initiative delivered a dependable, high availability solution for Trex’s Microsoft Windows and SQL Server based Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment, while establishing cloud operational practices and monitoring governance for finance and IT teams.

In 2020, Trex Company, Inc. implemented Starlims Abbott eScreen to centralize employee and candidate drug testing and screening workflows. The deployment targeted BackGround Screening use cases across HR, recruiting, occupational health scheduling, and payroll-adjacent administrative processes.
The Starlims Abbott eScreen configuration supported candidate drug screening workflows, random testing scheduling, test result capture and reporting, and employee document upload capabilities. Daily operations reflected these modules, with HR Coordinators performing My Escreen list retrievals to drive scheduling with Occupational Health, and maintaining bi-weekly skill block updates, document records, and screening-related reports.
Operational coverage extended to HR Coordinators, recruiting teams, Occupational Health schedulers, and payroll administrators, who used screening outputs to compile and audit payroll reporting checklists, process terminations and term letters, and manage benefits and direct deposit changes. The implementation embedded screening tasks into existing recruiting and bi-weekly orientation routines, aligning screening schedules with hiring and retention processes.
Governance and workflow changes formalized scheduling and audit responsibilities for HR staff, required ongoing maintenance of referral and retention bonus tracking alongside screening administration, and consolidated documentation workflows through the eScreen portal. The narrative shows Starlims Abbott eScreen was used as the operational backbone for BackGround Screening, integrating screening lists from My Escreen into Occupational Health scheduling and daily HR administration.
