In 2019, UniCredit deployed Palantir Foundry within its advanced analytics labs to establish a centralized Analytics and BI platform for customer analytics, targeting and reporting. UniCredit used Palantir Foundry to support analytics for retail sales, marketing campaign orchestration and small business commercial initiatives, linking analytics outputs to operational teams and commercial planning functions.
Palantir Foundry was configured to deliver standard Analytics and BI capabilities including data ingestion and consolidation, data modeling and enrichment, customer 360 profiles, segmentation and targeting workflows, and operational dashboards for network management. The platform supported the Small Business Core Banking and Payments implementation team from January 2019, extending analytical coverage to issuing and acquiring sectors and big data use cases described in UniCredit’s advanced analytics activity.
Operationally, Palantir Foundry was used alongside Salesforce for campaign orchestration, with targeting and customer analytics produced in Foundry feeding campaign execution in Salesforce. The implementation also involved liaison with Data Governance and sales reporting processes to produce management reports and sales network management tools used by marketing, retail sales, small business units and the CFO organization.
Governance and rollout emphasized process simplification and organizational change, including the creation of new retail roles such as Protection Consultant and POE, expansion of remote consulting models for investments and small businesses, and the development of training content to operationalize analytics. Responsibility for implementation was held within UniCredit’s advanced analytics labs, coordinating analytics, data governance and commercial planning to embed Palantir Foundry outputs into ongoing sales and marketing workflows.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Blockchain Platform | Blockchain Platform | Blockchain | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 UniCredit implemented the IBM Blockchain Platform as part of its participation in the we.trade consortium. The implementation used IBM Blockchain Platform, a Blockchain Platform, to host a permissioned distributed ledger architecture based on the Linux Foundation’s Hyperledger Fabric.
The deployment focused on digital trade workflows and trade finance capabilities, combining permissioned ledger and smart contract constructs to orchestrate cross‑bank trade transactions, automate trade finance processes and record logistics events. IBM Blockchain Platform was configured to support transaction orchestration, participant onboarding through bank channels and secure transaction settlement, delivering the reliability, simplicity and security described by the we.trade service.
Operationally the platform is run by the we.trade joint venture, with UniCredit participating as a shareholder and as a customer access point for corporate clients who register for we.trade through their banks. The implementation architecture explicitly integrates Hyperledger Fabric channeling and consortium governance, and the platform serves trade finance and logistics business functions across multiple banks and licensees including UniCredit AG in Germany, EuroBank in Greece, and ČSOB, Komerční Banka and Česká Spořitelna in the Czech Republic.
Governance was established through the we.trade joint venture ownership model, shared by 12 banks alongside IBM and CRIF, providing consortium control over membership, network policies and transaction validation rules. The we.trade digital trade platform running on IBM Blockchain Platform is positioned to centralize cross‑bank trade transaction processing and to enforce consortium governance while preserving permissioned access for participants.
