| SAS Institute | Legacy | SAS Viya | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2025 | 2025 | In 2025, University of Nevada, Las Vegas implemented SAS Viya as its centralized Analytics and BI platform to secure and manage comprehensive institutional data. The Office of Decision Support led the deployment to provide governed analytics and reporting across the university, prioritizing data security while improving stakeholder access for administrative, academic, research, athletics, and endowment functions. The SAS Viya implementation delivered production dashboards, self service visualization, and governed reporting services consistent with Analytics and BI capabilities, with configuration focused on role based access, data lineage, and scheduled reporting pipelines. The team instrumented dashboards to prevent data loss or functionality gaps for critical state and federal reporting workflows and to enable exploratory analysis for campus stakeholders. Operational integration included feeding validated outputs into state and federal reporting flows, specifically reporting to the Department of Higher Education, the Nevada System of Higher Education, and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System IPEDS, while also supporting NCAA data requirements for athletics. The deployment extended to support research and endowment offices and enabled cross functional analyses used by the university’s Minority Serving Institution Task Force to evaluate student needs. Governance and process changes were led by the Office of Decision Support, which used SAS Viya artifacts to run a campus Datapalooza to increase adoption and data literacy among stakeholders. Using insights produced in the platform, UNLV reported improved outcomes, with overall graduation rates rising by 20 percent and minority graduation rates increasing to over 50 percent, outcomes that were directly tied to analytics driven evaluation and removal of barriers for students. |
