In 2013 VIA Rail Canada implemented Oracle E-Business Suite to establish a consolidated ERP Financial platform for core finance operations. The adoption targeted financial controls and transactional processing across accounts payable and general ledger functions.
The deployment used Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3 and included GL SLA, Accounts Payable, Payment Request Process, and workflow-based invoice approval capabilities. Configuration focused on standard ERP Financial workflows for transaction capture, approval, and subledger accounting.
The technical stack comprised Oracle Database 10gR2 and 11gR2 running on Oracle Solaris SPARC 10 hosts. Delivery followed Oracle AIM methodology for requirements, configuration, testing, and cutover, with an EBS R12 Programmer Analyst supporting application configuration and environment work from September 2012 through April 2013 in the Montreal Canada area.
Operational scope concentrated on finance and accounts payable functions, implementing workflow-driven approval routing and a payment request process to standardize invoice handling. Governance work emphasized documented approval workflows and configuration of the EBS workflow engine to enforce routing and controls, and source notes do not document external system integrations.
