Oracle Legacy Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial ERP n/a 2013 2013
In 2013 VIA Rail Canada implemented Oracle E-Business Suite to establish a consolidated ERP Financial platform for core finance operations. The adoption targeted financial controls and transactional processing across accounts payable and general ledger functions. The deployment used Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3 and included GL SLA, Accounts Payable, Payment Request Process, and workflow-based invoice approval capabilities. Configuration focused on standard ERP Financial workflows for transaction capture, approval, and subledger accounting. The technical stack comprised Oracle Database 10gR2 and 11gR2 running on Oracle Solaris SPARC 10 hosts. Delivery followed Oracle AIM methodology for requirements, configuration, testing, and cutover, with an EBS R12 Programmer Analyst supporting application configuration and environment work from September 2012 through April 2013 in the Montreal Canada area. Operational scope concentrated on finance and accounts payable functions, implementing workflow-driven approval routing and a payment request process to standardize invoice handling. Governance work emphasized documented approval workflows and configuration of the EBS workflow engine to enforce routing and controls, and source notes do not document external system integrations.

IBM Legacy IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2016 2016
In 2016 VIA Rail Canada implemented IBM Maximo for Enterprise Asset Management to support a multi-year program to modernize services and infrastructure. The Maximo deployment was positioned to underpin asset strategies tied to the arrival of 32 brand new trains and to strengthen mechanical and capital asset stewardship across the organization. IBM Maximo was configured to provide core Enterprise Asset Management capabilities including a centralized asset register, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, inventory and spare parts control, inspection and condition monitoring, and mobile workforce support for field technicians. The implementation emphasis included configuration, ongoing evolution, maintenance and support processes aligned with industry best practices for asset-centric applications. Integrations were designed around web services and systems integration patterns to connect Maximo with corporate platforms and with Mechanical Services and Capital Asset Management operational processes. The implementation scope targeted operational coverage across mechanical maintenance and capital planning functions, enabling data flows between asset records, maintenance execution, and lifecycle planning workflows. Governance for the Maximo program incorporated ISO 55001 aligned asset management practices, a hybrid Agile and Waterfall delivery model, and typical functional analysis artifacts such as user stories, use cases, workflows and wireframes to guide configuration and rollout. Senior IT analysts and subject matter experts from Mechanical Services and Capital Asset Management were tasked with requirements consolidation, solution configuration guidance and sustaining-process ownership. The deployment of IBM Maximo for Enterprise Asset Management was explicitly tied to onboarding new fleet assets and to broader infrastructure modernization efforts, providing a structured platform for standardized maintenance processes and asset data consolidation across the organization.
