In 2016, PetroVietnam implemented SAP Business One HCM to upgrade human resource management capabilities for PetroVietnam Power Corporation PV Power, initiating a targeted Core HR deployment. The project kickoff involved SAP, PetroVietnam Power and APZON, with APZON recognized by SAP as a golden partner for SAP Business One in Vietnam, and APZON appointed to lead the upgrade effort.
The SAP Business One HCM implementation focused on embedding core HR capabilities such as centralized employee master data, workforce administration and HR reporting within the broader SAP Business One environment, leveraging the product to provide timely personnel-related financial information. SAP Business One HCM was positioned to connect HR records with enterprise financial management, purchasing, sales and production modules available in the SAP Business One suite, supporting cross-functional transactional consistency.
Operational coverage centered on PV Power business units, with the deployment scoped to HR and finance functions to improve control and operational productivity, and to provide management with accurate daily financial and personnel information. Integrations emphasized data flow between SAP Business One HCM and the SAP Business One ERP modules for finance and operational processes, enabling consolidated reporting and process alignment across departments.
Project governance was formalized with a named project manager from PV Power, Ms. Ha Thi Minh Nguyet, and a multi-party kickoff between SAP, PV Power and APZON to manage configuration and rollout. Expected outcomes stated by project stakeholders included stronger control requirements, improved companywide productivity and more timely and accurate financial information for decision making.
