The deployment targeted ERP Financial capabilities, centering on PeopleSoft 9.1 Expenses with enhancements to add mobile functionality, which required a PeopleTools upgrade to 8.54. Oracle PeopleSoft ERP was used to consolidate expense management and finance operations under a single enterprise application.
Configuration work focused on expanding the Expenses module to support mobile expense submission and enhanced validation, while preserving financial controls typical of ERP Financial systems. Integrations were scoped to ensure transactional handoff between the enhanced expense processing and existing finance ledgers and reporting systems.
Project governance emphasized requirements gathering, creation of formal requirements documents, preparation of test cases and job aids, and preparation and delivery of demo materials. A PeopleSoft EX lead was responsible for requirements capture, producing test artifacts and job aids, and leading demonstrations to stakeholders to support user acceptance and rollout readiness.

In 2018, Vistra Corp. implemented Workday Benefits as part of a broader Workday deployment to centralize employee benefits and HR processes, aligning with the Benefits Administration category. The rollout supported a national Fortune 500 workforce and was executed while the company expanded through a merger and subsequent acquisitions, which added over 2,000 employees and 15 states during the Dynegy merger and later added approximately 500 employees while extending operations into Japan and Canada.
Workday Benefits was configured alongside Workday HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Advanced Compensation, Time and Absence, Payroll, and Learning to provide integrated benefits administration and adjacent HR functionality. The HRIS team optimized over 44 business processes across HCM, Talent, Benefits, Recruiting, and Time, and created and rolled out more than 45 advanced, matrix, and dashboard reports using complex calculated fields to support benefits reporting and decision making.
The implementation included heavy use of Enterprise Interface Builder for recurring mass data loads and corrections, and the team developed and maintained over 225 integrations between Workday and other HR applications and service providers to support benefits eligibility, enrollment, payroll feeds, and vendor data exchange. HR historical data oversight was maintained in Microsoft SQL Server, and ongoing tenant evaluation was used to identify and automate actions and processes within Workday Benefits and related modules.
Governance was structured through an HR Technology Road Map and HRIS strategies that coordinated activities across HR, Technology Services, Accounting, Planning, Safety, and Operations. The HRIS team administered user, role, and segment based security for over 5,000 employees and served as project manager and technical lead for major undertakings, including the Dynegy data merger which was successfully executed and the Workday Recruiting implementation which was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.
